Our Services

Drones equipped with thermal cameras can help you recovery your trophy buck. These hunters recovered a very mature buck in Albama

Deer Recovery

As a life-long hunter, I invest considerable time each year scouting, shooting, and planning so I give myself the best opportunity to be a successful hunter. Although we make every effort for success, sometimes our hunts don’t go as smooth as planned and recovering a deer can be challenging. Southeastern Drone Solutions offers deer recovery services using drones equipped with a thermal camera which allows us to cover areas quick and efficiently with minimal disturbance to wildlife. Thermal drones are essentially blood hounds in the sky keying in on body heat signatures of all wildlife. We can gather some initial information from the hunter to form a plan to give us the greatest probability of finding their deer. Once in the air, we fly this plan looking for thermal signatures and body language to identify if the thermal is a deer and if it is distressed. Once, identified, a zoom camera gives us a close-up view to determine if the deer is the target of the recovery and the intensity of the wound. Due to state regulations as well as ethical fair-chase hunting practices, thermal camera equipped drones will only be used to recover wounded deer and will not be used to assist in locating deer as part of illegal hunts. Shoot us a call, text, or email for assistance in finding your deer.

A herd of cattle are shown in a pasture with one cow that escaped through the fences and got onto adjacent property. A thermal camera on a drone was able to locate the lost cow immediately saving valuable time and money for the farmer.

Livestock and Pet Recovery

Even with good fences cattle and pets can wander off checking to see if the grass is greener on the other side. Whey they realize that it isn’t, they sometimes have a hard time finding their way home. Our pets are members of the family and mean a lot to us. Likewise, cattle produce next year’s calves or this year’s revenue. In many cases, pets and livestock are not very far away from where they are supposed to be but sometimes get into places that are not easy to access by foot. A combination of thermal and high-zoom cameras equipped on a drone allows us to search large areas efficiently to see if your buddies are close by but stuck and can’t come home. If you need help locating and recovering your pets or livestock, Southeastern Drone Solutions may be able to help you so you don’t have to worry any more. This may be most appropriate for medium to large animals as smaller animals will be difficult to distinguish from other wildlife of similar sizes.

Wildlife Population Monitoring

Managing wildlife on your property requires precise population estimates to help you measure the impacts of habitat improvements, identify occurrence, or provide estimates for generating harvest goals. Drones equipped with thermal and zoom cameras coupled with our extensive experience in wildlife population monitoring provides an efficient and affordable way to provide data necessary for managing your property. On smaller properties, this may be a simple count of deer occupying the property at that time. On larger properties, various population estimators can be applied to give you a confident estimate of the population as wildlife can and do move. Hence, populations will never be known with certainty. Drones are being increasingly used to monitor deer and waterfowl populations as well as detecting of some species of secretive marsh birds. Southeastern Drone Solutions would be happy to discuss how we can assist in getting you precise estimates of wildlife populations on your property or monitor habitat use.

An old mill dam between two agricultural fields. The project area was flown with a drone the the pictures stictched together to make an orthomosaic map.

Orthomosaic Mapping

Drone orthomosaic mapping is a cutting-edge technique that utilizes aerial imagery captured by drones to create high-resolution, two-dimensional representations of physical landscapes. This process involves collecting overlapping photographs from multiple angles, which are then stitched together using advanced software to produce a seamless, georeferenced image. The resulting orthomosaic map provides precise measurements and a detailed perspective of the terrain, making it invaluable for applications in agriculture, construction, environmental monitoring, and urban planning. By offering an accurate and comprehensive view of an area, drone orthomosaic mapping enhances decision-making processes and aids in effective project management. Ortho-mapping is one of our favorite services and deliverable may include high-resolution, up-to-date GIS layers of your project area. Give Southeastern Drone Solutions a call for all of our ortho-mapping needs.

Disclaimer: Although drone ortho-mapping is highly precise, it is not a substitute for a professional land survey; such projects should be completed by a licensed professional land surveyor.

Natural Resources Planning

High resolution, up-to-date aerial maps are a necessity for natural resources management. Although satellite imagery is readily available for integration in GIS, this coarse resolution imagery is typically 1-3 years old, limiting its utility in monitoring recent changes or dynamic habitats. In addition, satellite imagery is frequently subject to shadows which obscure feature changes, adding additional uncertainty for measuring distances or areas. Capturing images with a drone can be done as needed to provide up-to-date aerial images which can be stitched together through photogrammetry to produce high resolution, georeferenced imagery for creating GIS layers. These layers can then be used to help you make the best decisions for natural resources planning and habitat monitoring. Southeastern Drone Solutions is happy to help you generate the best imagery possible to allow you to increase precision for your natural resource plans.

Construction Site Progress Monitoring

Time is money and periodic delays can add several weeks to months to construction project deadlines. Monitoring construction site progress using a drone provides unparalleled efficiency and accuracy. Drones equipped with high-resolution cameras capture detailed aerial imagery, enabling project managers to assess the status of the site in real time. This aerial perspective facilitates the identification of potential issues, such as delays or safety concerns, that might not be visible from ground level. Furthermore, the data collected can be processed to create 3D models and visualizations, allowing stakeholders to track progress against timelines and budgets effectively. By leveraging drone technology, construction teams can enhance their decision-making processes and ensure projects remain on schedule and within scope. About
our company

Southeastern Drone Solutions is owned and operated by Jason Wisniewski of Piedmont, Alabama. Jason has served as a wildlife biologist for 20 years specializing in aquatic conservation and wildlife population monitoring for several state agencies. As a wildlife biologist, Jason utilized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) frequently to view habitat and landscape conditions as well as plot field survey data to visualize the distribution and abundance of various species. Although aerial imagery was available for use in GIS, most of this imagery was several months to several years old and generally at a lower resolution than desired for most of his projects. He desired to have more up-to-date and higher resolution imagery but access to such data was difficult as it was costly and required specialized equipment.

After seeing his brother-in-law flying a drone over the family farm in early 2018, Jason immediately recognized that small unmanned aircraft (sUAS) aka drones were a cost-efficient solution to generating high resolution and nearly real-time imagery with endless possibilities. Jason earned his FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate in May 2018 and has provided professional aerial photography and videography content for a variety of purposes including construction site planning and monitoring, generating high resolution imagery for field mapping and monitoring, generating 3-dimensional models of vertical infrastructure, wildlife population monitoring, and wildlife recovery. Jason has invested his time to learn and apply photogrammetry which compliments his GIS background well. In addition, he has most recently become familiar with thermography and video editing to expand his skillset to providing more services as needed.

Jason established Southeastern Drone Solutions in 2024 to provide his experience and expertise to others needing high quality aerial imagery and videography at an affordable cost. Southeastern Drone Solutions is based in northeast Alabama, serving Cherokee, Calhoun, Cleburne, DeKalb, Etowah, Jefferson, St. Clair, Talladega, and surrounding counties as well as Polk, Floyd, Harralson, Paulding, and surrounding counties in northwest Georgia.
